I was given the opportunity to redesign a menu for a local italian restaurant. After collaborating with the owner we landed on simple text on top of an image. Their preference was to use drop shadows and opacity to separate the text from the background with a few boxes to break things up.
It was a several month long process to land on this version, we discussed background and layout extensively, along with trying to match a menu that the customer liked. The major challenge was turning the below five page menu into one double sided page.
These were the considered backgrounds below, the owner is from Sicily and wanted to represent the beauty of Italy.
